Josephine Kogweno founded the firm in February 2015 as J.Kogweno & Associates. As part of the firm’s expansion and client service strategy, the firm restructured and rebranded in March 2017 to Kogweno & Bubi Advocates, LLP.
Ms. Kogweno has acquired great expertise in property law and conveyancing, banking security documentation and perfection, commercial and corporate law, share deals, probate and administration of estate, company secretarial services, immigration law, labour and employment advisory and litigation, tax law advisory, registration of businesses entities, regulatory compliance, legal forensic audits and intellectual property law.

Highlights on Experience
Ms. Kogweno has set up various businesses in Kenya for both locals and foreigners and routinely advises boards of companies on corporate governance, share deals, joint venture transactions and general regulatory compliance. In this regard, she drafts and reviews various corporate and commercial agreements. In 2017, she facilitated the set up of a business involved in importation of solar equipment and facilitated the process of obtaining all the requisite licenses from the Energy Regulatory Commission as well up advising on key employment and suppliers agreements. Her services include tax advisory services and processing of tax exemptions where applicable.
She also facilitates processing of titles and is familiar with the requisite procedures, including liaising with private surveyors, the physical planners, county offices, the Director of Survey, Physical Planning Department, the National Land Commission and various land registered all over the country. She is routinely involved in execution of property transactions and Conveyancing in matters involving due diligence investigations, preparation of sale agreements, transfers, leases, licenses, easements over land as well as registration processes in all Land Registries in Kenya. In 2017, she completed a sale of property worth Kes.312,000,000/-.
She also routinely advices various clients in matters involving preparation and perfection of land based security documents for financial advances to all types of legal entities for various amounts and in various currencies. Josephine is an expert in documentation and is well versed with the registration processes at all Land Registries in Kenya. She has represented Agricultural Finance Corporation in drafting and perfection of security documents.
She has advised various individuals and companies (including Gina Din Corporate Communications) on protection of intellectual property rights and has facilitated the registration of trademarks, utility models and patents. She also advises on intellectual property contracts such as script writes agreements, production agreements, Non Disclosure Agreements, Publications Agreements inter alia.
She routinely provides advisory services on labour and employment law including drafting and or reviewing of employment policies, advisory services on employment contracting, termination of employment services and the set up of Employee Share Options Schemes (ESOPs).
She has also been involved in conducting compliance audits and was involved in legal consultancy services on a forensic audit jointly with PWC relating to illegally acquired public land that was designated for airport services.
